You're Doing It Wrong...

...but that's o.k., because I want you to lose anyway.

The first debate between future hope Barack Obama and past despair John McCain will be tonight at six. Thrill to the regurgitated Republican lies spread to encourage fear and doubt. Gasp at the shocking display of false numbers used to twist reality to conform to conservative desires. Marvel at the awkward, stumbling steps it took to get a GOP candidate so far out of his element as to end up here. Lament the number of people that get in line behind it all.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could have a president that believed and supported science? Versus, you know, a fundamentalist that denies the truth of quantum physics, but then uses a cell phone made possible by it?

It really is up to you to aggressively refute the arguements of the willfully ignorant. Arm yourself with at least a minimum of basic facts, and join the tide.

Poles are universally hated and clung to, for reasons I assume you already know. If you would like a comprehensive result that cuts through the crap, averages everything and acts as a watchdog for dubious claims, i recommend this.

The battleground will be the classroom.

If children are taught to obey without question 'for the bible tells them so', then we will continue to lose in the war for reason. Do your part to end our theocracy.

Fundamentalism 0 Common Sense 1

Follow up to a prior post...

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A former Army commander who underwent a sex change operation was discriminated against by the U.S. government, a federal judge ruled Friday in an important victory for transgenders claiming bias in the workplace.

Diane Schroer won her federal lawsuit against the Library of Congress after officials backed out of a 2005 job offer when told of her intention to become a transsexual. At the time of the job interview for a position as a senior terrorism research analyst, David Schroer was a male. He had been a onetime Army Special Forces commander.

U.S. District Court Judge James Robinson said Schroer's civil rights were violated.

Full story can be found at MSNBC.

i really needed something like this to pick me up today, what with the two young knuckle-draggers screaming 'Fucking Homo' out of their car as they drove by my house.

Fuck me? No, no, no. Fuck you, you petulant little man-child. And fuck the Library of Congress, too.

Men in Stealth and Covergirls...

Statistically speaking, how many men does the average andro T have to be approached by before she will find one who is secure enough in himself for her to be open about herself?

i seem to be having a run of gay men who aren't out, who are looking for the perfect covergirl. The problem with this for me being 1.) i'm interested in 'straight' guys only, with surgery being definite in my future, and 2.) i have no interest in ever being woodworked again for anybody.

It's a twisted world, where offers for a life of ease are made in exchange for hiding yourself. When men try to manipulate you into reliance, priming you for financial and emotional coercion to make you back out of surgery. It's insidious.

i've never been in a bar before (yeah...i know, very weird). Partially because i work too much, and partially because i have yet to find a single woman who can tell me they 'found the most wonderful man' at one. With the exception of New Year's, i very rarely drink. i'd resort to that if it ment lubing me up to pull the bug out of my ass, but i don't feel like attending a 'meat market', which is how the local gay bar has been described. Not being passable, i don't feel like i would have much luck at a straight bar either.

Damn it all anyway.

Election 08'

Don't mind me...i'll just leave this right here.

His tantrums have been waved away as 'having a bad day'. The Commander in Chief of the United States of America has a lot of bad days. Is this how he's going to handle them all?

On a totally unrelated note, i need a prestigious new job. i'm the unfortunate victim of a series of violent crimes. Maybe someone will put me in charge of a corporation.

I can't believe the direction this is going. We are going to slit our own throat with the right hand just to spite the left hand.

Transsexuals vs. Transgenders

So, being new to the intrawebz trans community, i’ve been doing a lot of reading and…wow. i feel a need to reply to all of the posts and sites i’ve read attacking the idea of scientific study behind trans behavior, and the hostility that seems to exist between those who have different ideas over the definition of a ‘real woman’. Conservative transsexuals vs. progressive transgenders.

Although it’s easier to stay cloaked in ignorance, it goes without saying that history has proven that it is never better. Arguing against the study for the biological causalities of transsexuality and transgenderism is no different from creationists standing in the way of science. Both threaten to violate a preconceived notion of ‘truth’.

i’ve never been one to shut up and accept the ‘because God said so’ explanation. And i don’t understand how scientific understanding could threaten someone’s sense of identity. By now it is obvious that there are several different factors in determining if someone ends up expressing themselves as trans, and having varying degrees of any number of these factors won’t legitimize anyone any more or less, just as lighter or darker skin legitimizing anyone any more or less when it comes to being black.

There are always going to be pockets of elitists in any subculture. Consider the racist phrase, ‘if it ain’t white, it ain’t right’. People with a prejudice are going to display hateful behavior, and hate can’t be reasoned with. It strikes me that elitist transsexuals have hope to find some hidden biological truth that sets them apart and above transgendered people. But the only possible motive they could have for this would be gaining easier acceptance by the general population. That won’t make a difference. Hate can’t be reasoned with ladies, and you’re going to be considered just as much of a ‘freak’ as everybody else.

Flawed reasons for scientific understanding aside, simply ‘basking in the marvel of what is, and letting it be’ is not enough. It's a riddle to be solved like all scientific mysteries. We need to know why, and i will draw a line of opposition against any well-meaning but short-sighted T who insists that we should live in ‘warm acceptance’ (re: fearful ignorance) just because of what might come to pass (in utero manipulation of gender identity - the ultimate non-threat i've ever heard).

Before you get all glassy-eyed with indifference or angrily pop a vein you could tow a car with, listen to me for a moment. Aside from the crime of taking a page from the fundamentalist’s playbook with such ‘thinking’ (see no evil / hear no evil / speak no evil), those that do don’t seem to realize that they are engaging in nothing more than a fighting retreat for our cause. An X-Men III scenario is not avoided by choking off science; it’s avoided by choking off religious influence in our government. Fine, you don’t want to know why the way we are. i do. There are so many places we could go with more knowledge. Don’t fear the development of a new car just because drunk drivers still exist.

The horrible aspect of all this is how badly it seems to be fracturing the community. It’s bad enough that the Christian Coalition is fighting the exploration of scientific proof against the ‘choice of lifestyle’ condemnation. What’s worse is the outcry some transsexuals have at being associated with transgendered people. Direct address to the elitists: i’ve heard several times now that the rational is that ‘they make us look bad’. Really? Well i’m 100% transsexual, by every definition you elitists seem to cling to. Rather than ‘them’ making ‘us’ look bad, I think *you* are making *me* look bad.

The relatively few people born into affluence can fall prey to the thought of being superior to others, and participate in a sub-culture that reinforces their elitism. They begin to lose the ability to see the world beyond the scope of their own money, and consequently their worth as a person becomes related to it. Worse, the value of others less fortunate is measured the same way.

This cycle repeats itself.

The relatively few people born very passable can fall prey to the thought of being superior to others, and participate in a sub-culture that reinforces their elitism. They begin to lose the ability to see the world beyond the scope of their own anonymity, and consequently their worth as a person becomes related to it. Worse, the value of others less fortunate is measured the same way.

Those few people that are born fortunate must resist any thought of being superior, and simply embrace being T. The first step is to admit denial of your mentality. Just as the ‘Law and Order’ election platform in the 60’s was code for anti-black prejudice, so to is the desperate need to separate transsexuality from the rest of the community nothing more than internal trans-prejudice.

i have expressed anger at representatives of the trans community that liberal-minded T might label as elitist (despite my not being passable). i’ll give an example with my reason why, even though it may destroy any chance of developing some friendships online.

Drag queens offend me profoundly. i see them as nothing more than men mocking trans women. And i’ve heard all the excuses. ‘It’s just a popular stage show’. ‘It’s just for fun and comedy’. ‘It’s a part of the culture’. ‘Your type participates so there’s nothing wrong’. These exact arguments have been used before. Funny how history repeats itself. Or maybe not. i've tried to 'get over it', but somehow i can't shake the feeling that they are mocking us and making a parody of who we are. Admittedly, as a fault, i am frequently sensitive, and not as intelligent, educated or experienced as many others. Perhaps there is some new view i can't reach yet.

i have observed conservative transsexuals attack people as ‘just crossdressers’, and i have seen all-inclusive transgenders respond by labeling it as a form of hate. Where’s the motive being targeted? Some crossdressers are trans women who simply can’t afford therapy, true. But more often than not, they are men playing into stereotypical ideals of women, which offends my ever-developing feminist sensibilities. Being new to the ‘scene’, i have yet to find anyone that agrees with me, but it doesn’t make me want to back down on my feelings. New minds, fresh ideas. It’s just my particular flavor of crazy. i only have one motive.

Drive back the darkness of religion with the bright light of science, until ‘god’ has nowhere left to hide.

'Love' 1.0

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Gov. Sarah Palin's church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

The 'pray away the gay' story can be found at MSNBC.

Topic slam.

GLBT behavior is common in the wild.

Irony check.

"God grant me the strength to accept the things I cannot change."
"The courage to change the things I can."
"And the wisdom to know the difference."

Boyfriends...

i really need to find one of those car fixer / spider killer / jar opener / flower bringer / scary noise checker / guys. You know, a boyfriend.

A boyfriend, yeah right. i don't realistically see my celebrity crush becoming single, falling in love with me and having us run off together anytime soon.

The thing is, i'm not hung up on any particular type. Looks mean little to me. Intelligence and maturity do. And nothing turns me off faster than some variation of the approach, 'a girl like you wouldn't be interested in a guy like me'. You're right, i wouldn't. For the love of all that is good and decent, have assertive confidence. Nothing is more of an aphrodisiac for me.

Something else that actually rails me. Guys put off or intimidated by intelligence. There's got to be men out there somewhere who actually enjoy talking about something with substance, with someone who knows *something*. i've tested situations before. Just act giggly and light headed girls, and they can't get enough of you. But have an opinion?

Believe me, i'm self-aware. There's no negative trait i've demonstrated in these situations other than the willingness and ability to articulate an idea about something. If only i could find a guy that appreciated that, who was also attracted to me as well, everything would be Punky Brewster.

We Ts need a decent non-sex oriented dating site. Those dating sites that exist now for cissexuals just wouldn't work, would they? And who wants to be rejected before you have the chance to...well... be rejected?

What a pointless bitch session. Sorry about that. But i feel a little better.

Transgender Immigrant Death...

i don't get around the intrawebz as much as other girls, so maybe somebody else covered this already.

MEXICO CITY — "Olga Arellano sobs as she recalls how her HIV-positive daughter spent two months succumbing to infections in a U.S. migrant detention center, complaining that she didn't see a doctor or get the right medicine."

"Fellow inmates also begged for help after Victoria Arellano started vomiting blood in their holding cell, where her lawyer said 105 detainees were crammed onto bunks and mattresses in a space designed for 40."

"She died three days later, chained to a hospital bed."

Complete story can be found, believe it or not, at FOX News.

I don't know what to say.

Into the Lion's Den...

I was expecting some form of bigotry from the other models, but this was more severe than i thought it would be. And the host's refusal to acknowledge her womanhood at the end made me wonder.

Is this really an opportunity for us, or are we just the center of a joke?
